    Policy description "The purpose of this Act is to cope with climate change and to contribute to improving the quality of life forpeople and the sound development of the national economy by increasing the carbon sinking function and other diverse functions of timber and using the timber in a sustainable manner. The State and local governments shall establish and implement measures to prevent distribution or use of timber illegally cut inside or outside the Republic of Korea. The Minister of the Korea Forest Service shall, in cooperation with local governments and agencies and organizations related to forest and the timber industry, provide guidance and conduct publicity activities to prevent the distribution and use of illegally cut timber. "
