Decree No. 44 of 2024 on Temporary Natural Reserves, enacted in Colombia on January 30, 2024, establishes guidelines for creating zones to protect and develop renewable natural resources on a temporary basis. The decree aims to exclude or restrict mining activities in ecologically important areas, granting the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development the power to identify, delimit, and declare temporary reserves for up to five years, extendable once for the same term.
