This budget allocates funding for clean technologies and decarbonization. This funding will support Japan in reaching its NDC targets of 60% emissions reduction by 2035, 73% reduction by 2040, and net-zero emissions by 2050. The budget promotes R&D and provides subsidies for companies deploying clean technologies in various areas, including: energy efficiency; development of renewable energy such as solar PV, offshore wind and geothermal; establishment of a hydrogen supply chain; enhancement of safety and innovation in nuclear power generation; development of CCUS technologies, including recycling of CO2; and development of low-carbon vehicles and batteries.
