This plan establishes the direction of the marine and fisheries sector, in accordance with the establishment of the national 2050 Carbon Neutrality Scenario. This policy sets the GHG absorption target for blue carbon by 2050 at 1.362 milllion tons. This policy seeks to maximize blue carbon absorption by increasing the restoration of diverse vegetation in destroyed mudflat areas, expanding sea forests, and expanding research on potential blue carbon sinks. The plan is to reduce Marine Sector emissions by 70 percent by 2050 and reduce fisheries/fishing villages emissions by 96 percent by 2050, compared to the 2018 emissions of each respective sector. Through the 2050 Marine Energy Development Plan, the Ministry will replace fossil fuel use and reduce GHG emissions by 2.297 million tons.
