The strategy aims to diversify the energy matrix and improve energy efficiency.
It seeks to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix from 25% to 50% by 2050 and reduce carbon footprint of power generation by 70%. It also aims to increase energy efficiency of individuals and companies by 40%.
The strategy foresees shares of 44% renewable energy, 38% gas, 12% “clean coal” and 6% nuclear in the electricity mix in 2050. It is unclear how “clean coal” is defined exactly, although this probably means coal-fired power with carbon capture and storage or high efficiency low emission (HELE) coal-fired power.
