The Federal Act on a Secure Electricity Supply from Renewable Energy Sources aims to rapidly expand renewable energy production, reduce energy import dependence, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The Act, set to enter into force on January 1, 2025, introduces new regulations for energy production, transport, storage, and consumption, including a solar obligation for new buildings with over 300 m² of floor area, and targets to increase renewable electricity production by at least 5,400 GWh by 2030 compared to 2000 levels.
