First auction for utility-scale battery storage. The planning body of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (Energy Mining Planning Unit, UPME) will award the winner of the auction for the design, procurement, construction and operation and maintenance (O&M) of an electrical storage system in Colombia’s Atlantic region.

The system would be about 45MW helping to boost local electricity network reliability and facilitate the integration of renewables in the region.
