This policy sets out rules and requirements for the manufacturing of products involving fluorinated gases, with the goal of reducing levels by 80% in 2035. This will be achieved by phasing down the amount of F-gases that can be placed on the market through gradually reducing quotas for F-gas producers and importers; bans on certain F-gases in some applications; and strengthening of obligations on leak checks, repairs, recovery and training.
The F-gas Regulation is an EU-wide regulation, but a UK specific legislation covering F-gas emissions was passed in 2019, ensuring the continuation of emission reductions beyond the UK’s exit from the EU.
