The GX 2040 Vision (2025) is Japan’s long-term Green Transformation strategy adopted in 2025, setting out a roadmap for economic and energy system transformation through 2040. It builds on the earlier GX Basic Policy by aligning investment, market mechanisms and sectoral transition pathways with Japan’s updated climate goals, emphasising expanded renewable energy deployment, clean technology adoption, integrated energy planning and market creation to support deep decarbonisation of the power, industry, transport and buildings sectors.
