The Law defines the legal framework that regulates small-scale, distributed electricity generation. It also stipulates that consumers that aim to generate electricity may be brought together by means of any kind of civil association, composed of individuals or legal entities, provided that they are specifically instituted for shared generation and that all their consumer units are served by the same distributor. The Law also creates provisions to support renewable energy uptake by low-income households. The exact calculation of the financial compensation for distributed generation are still to be defined.
