The 2050 Pathways Platform defines a long-term low emissions development strategy (LT-LEDS) as a pathway that will help to envision the transition to low carbon economic development integrating the needed institutional, economic, technological and social changes, and the phases to achieve them. As part of the Paris Agreement, countries are encouraged to produce an LT-LEDS to provide a roadmap for longterm decarbonization, which is particularly useful in the context of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), since these trajectories can be used as a benchmark for revised and new NDCs.
