In France, the scheme was introduced by the Energy Transition Law. Paris became the first city to implement a low-emission zone. The system relies on the division of vehicles into 6 categories Crit'Air (Certificat Qualité de l'Air - Certificate Air Quality), according to their levels of emissions. This defines which vehicles are able to circulates within the city and what the conditions are. IEA/IRENA Global Renewable Energy Policies and Measures Database © OECD/IEA and IRENA, [November 2020]
