The Middle East Green Initiative is a regional initiative, led by Saudi Arabia and established in 2021. It has multiple objectives, including mitigating climate change, fostering economic diversification and job creation, and other environmental objectives. In 2022, the Crown Prince announced that Saudi Arabia will establish and host a MGI Secretariat and will allocate USD 2.5 billion to support projects and governance.
One of its target is to grow 50 billion trees across the Middle East.
