Chile commits to an absolute GHG emissions level of 90 MtCO2e in 2035. The new NDC reiterates its 2030 commitments and introduces new sectoral targets for the post-2030 period. It includes mining-specific emissions reduction targets, for instance, aiming for reductions of 57% in open-pit copper mines, 74% in underground copper mining, and 52% in other mining activities. In the forestry sector, Chile aims to sustainably manage an additional 10,000 ha of forest land and reforest an additional 5,000 ha per year from 2031 to 2035 – these actions would deliver an estimated 0.4–0.5 MtCO2e in GHG removals by 2035
