The French Overseas Countries and Territories commit an economy-wide plan of limiting the increase in GHG emissions to 8.4% in 2030 compared to 2016 (6959 KtCO2e).
The commitment varies amongst the territories. New Caledonia has the greatest share of emissions and is committing to limit the increase to 11.3% compared to 2016. Hence, New Caledonia planned to replace the heavy oil power plant to a gas thermal power plant by 2024 and renewable energies. In addition, apply a new legislation regarding energy efficiency on equipment.
French Polynesia states a reduction of 3.7% compared to 2016, Saint-Barthélemy a reduction of 15% compared to 2013, Saint Pierre and Miquelon to limit the increase in 6.6% compared to 2016, and lastly Wallis and Futuna, which will reduce its emissions by 20% by 2030 compared to 2016.
