Mexico's new NDC includes an unconditional emissions reduction target from BAU by up to 35% in 2030 for all greenhouse gases – up from a previous 22% emissions reduction target. It specifies that 30% of the reduction is to be achieved with own resources and the additional 5% with already agreed international cooperation and finance for ‘clean energies1’. The NDC update also includes a climate target conditional to international support to reduced up to 40% emissions from BAU in 2030.
Mexico’s 2022 NDC update removes the target to peak emissions in 2026 and does not mention any net zero nor other long-term targets.
