The Planning and Infrastructure Bill aims to accelerate the building of houses and critical infrastructure by removing barriers and delays in planning, and accelerating the construction process. With that, it supports the milestones of building 1.5 million homes, and fast-tracking 150 planning decisions on major economic infrastructure projects by the end of this Parliament. It will also support delivery of the government's Clean Power 2030 target by ensuring that clean energy projects are built as quickly as possible. A central objective of the Bill is to also reform the electricity network connection process by institutional restructuring and a more strategic approach - expected to reduce system costs and enabling faster addition of generation and storage.
