The support scheme has undergone several revisions. The Plug-in Car Grant initially offered up to GBP 5,000 towards a new plug-in vehicle, after which the grant value was reduced and eventually withdrawn in 2022.

In 2025, the grant provides up to GBP 2,500 for small vans, up to GBP 5,000 for large vans, and up to GBP 16,000-25,000 for trucks, as well as up to GBP 3,000-4,000 for taxis and home charging support via the EV Chargepoint Grant.
