The Solar Roadmap outlines more than 70 measures to accelerate solar deployment - in order to reach the targets set out in the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, i.e. 45-47 GW of operational solar capacity by 2030. It puts emphasis on rooftop solar installations on public and commercial buildings, for which funding from Great British Energy will be available. The roadmap also details measures to address the skills shortage, and references the previously announced mandate for rooftop solar on new homes.
Changes to the Contracts for Difference scheme have been announced in the roadmap, while consultations on the seventh allocation round started in March 2025. Finally, reforms to grid connections ought to remove key barriers to accelerated roll-out.
