China introduced a national vehicle trade-in and scrappage programme to stimulate consumption and accelerate fleet electrification. Consumers scrapping older vehicles and purchasing new NEVs receive subsidies of up to RMB 20,000 for replacing an old internal combustion vehicle with a new NEV, with lower subsidies for replacement with conventional vehicles.
