About the database

Raising the ambition of action against climate change is urgent. Countries adopt a wide range of climate and energy policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The number and coverage of climate change mitigation policies have increased dramatically in the past twenty years, but important policy adoption gaps and inconsistencies remain. Widespread adoption of existing policy options would advance keeping global warming below 2°C by the end of the century.

The Climate Policy Database is a collaborative effort to track policy adoption and identify global and national policy coverage gaps. We identify, categorise and analyse mitigation-relevant policies to support national ambition raising efforts.
